Ann Pettifor and Yasmine Sherif

Ann Pettifor is Director of Policy Research in Macroeconomics (PRIME), a network of economists promoting the policies and theories of John Maynard Keynes and examining the finance sector's role in the economy. She is a council member of the Progressive Economy Forum, chair of the advisory board of Goldsmith’s College Political Economy Research Centre, a fellow of the New Economic Foundation, and an economic adviser to Britain’s Labour Party. Her 2006 book, The Coming First World Debt Crisis, predicted the global financial crisis.

In her most recent book, The Case for the Green New Deal, Pettifor explains what the Green New Deal is, why it’s necessary, and how to make it happen.

Yasmine Sherif is Director of Education Cannot Wait, a global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises. She is a lawyer by training, specialized in international humanitarian, human-rights, and refugee law. Sherif joined the United Nations in 1988, and has since served with its humanitarian, development, and peacekeeping arms, with posts in New York, Geneva, and crisis-affected countries in Africa, Asia, Balkans, and the Middle East.

In her 2015 book, The Case for Humanity: An Extraordinary Session, Sherif combines her firsthand experiences with the ideas of great minds from the past to call for a new vision for the future.
