饥饿的再思考

罗马——世界亟待解决营养问题。虽然实现发展中国家营养不良比例减半的千年发展目标已经取得了长足的进步,但营养不良问题依然持续普遍存在同时又非常棘手。归根结底,解决这一问题不仅要提供更多食物;减少营养不良的有效努力还必须确保人们可以吃到某些特定的食物类型——这些食物类型为他们提供健康、有效生活所需的营养素。

1945年来粮食产量增长了三倍,而粮食供应人均增长了40%。仅过去十年,占世界蔬菜产量四分之三的亚太产地产量就已增长了四分之一。

但尽管粮食供给不断扩大,每天至少仍有8.05亿人在忍饥挨饿,其中7.91亿人在发展中国家生活。季节性或间歇性缺粮的人数更多。超过20亿人不得不忍受“隐性饥饿”——即缺乏一种或多种微营养素。
