纽约——我在社会主义的波兰长大时,国际妇女节被用来庆祝妇女的贡献和成就。但其实这只是个空洞的记号。翌日,妇女们依然要继续面对机会有限的生活。几代人的歧视不是一天的节日可以矫正的。

国际禁毒政策制度的影响同样反映了这样的现实。妇女最常出现在供应链的底部,往往扮演“毒品贩运者”。如果被捕,尽管往往是非暴力初犯,但依然面临着严酷的最低强制刑期的处罚。

对毒贩子而言,这些女性是可以牺牲的。她们很少会得到保释、或者聘请律师,因为她们对整个贩毒机制没有任何价值。而且,单凭自身力量,这些女性缺乏知识和资源,无法真正理解司法系统。她们也不太可能掌握有价值的信息,很难换取当局的从轻发落。
