Soňa Muzikárová and Minna Salami

Soňa Muzikárová, a political economist focused on Central and Eastern Europe, is Senior Adviser to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic. She previously served as an economist for the OECD and the European Central Bank, and led the Slovak Chairmanship at the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting.

Muzikárová's research aims to analyze economic and political developments – from measuring real economic convergence in the eurozone to assessing the effects of the Ukraine war – find compelling narratives in data, identify macroeconomic trends, and understand country-specific and region-specific policies and business conditions.

Muzikárová explains what it will take for the country to preserve and increase its newfound influence in Europe.

Minna Salami, a feminist author and social critic, is the founder of the blog MsAfropolitan and a fellow at The New Institute. She is the author of Sensuous Knowledge: A Black Feminist Approach for Everyone, which reimagines universal concepts through a Black feminist framework, and the forthcoming Can Feminism Be African?, which explores key themes of African feminism.

Salami’s research focuses on Black feminist theory, contemporary African thought, and the politics of knowledge production.
