Une nouvelle opportunité pour les mamans high-tech

NEW YORK – Deux femmes hautement qualifiées, ayant à elles deux quatre bébés et enfants en bas âge, ont peut-être trouvé un équilibre idéal entre leur vie professionnelle et leur vie de famille. Il semblerait bien que PowerToFly ait réussi ce prodige : la nouvelle start-up leur trouve des emplois dans le monde entier dans les métiers technologiques, avec des horaires flexibles et avec la possibilité de travailler à distance.

Les deux femmes à la tête de cette entreprise ont une solide expérience dans la presse, les médias sociaux et la technologie : Katharine Zaleski est l'ancienne directrice exécutive du  Washington Post  numérique et la première rédactrice en chef du Huffington. Milena Berry est l'ancienne Directrice technique d'Avaaz.org, la plateforme mondiale de dons en ligne. Ces deux femmes ont éprouvé en personne à quel point leurs carrières exceptionnelles n'ont pas suffi à les sauver, ni elles, ni des milliers d'autres appartenant à la même catégorie professionnelle, de l'impression d'avoir été mises sur la touche, sans choix satisfaisant mieux équilibrer leur vie professionnelle et leur vie de famille.

Quand Zaleski a eu son premier enfant, elle a pensé, à tort, que trois mois d'arrêt de travail seraient suffisants. « J'étais chez moi, à me taper la tête contre les murs. Je me disais : « La poisse ! Il faut que je retourne bosser dix heures par jour, sinon je vais vite  commencer à décrocher. Je commençais à me sentir vraiment déprimée, en voyant que je n'avais que deux solutions à ma disposition. »
