发自马尼拉——1980年,我父亲在独裁者费迪南德·马科斯的牢狱迫害之下心脏病发,前往美国接受搭桥手术。当时独裁政府还口是心非地许诺给予我父亲缓刑。政府操纵下的法庭早已判决要枪毙我父亲,但他仍然拒绝屈服,因为在他心中“为菲律宾人民而死,死得其所”。

3年后父亲归国,不为求死,而是为陷入低谷的反独裁运动注入新生。父亲刚抵达马尼拉机场便遭行刺,而这一事件也成为了他为其事业献身的最有力证明。

1986年,我国民众用自己的信念和平抵抗了马克斯的坦克。马克斯流亡,民主在没有流血的情况下回到了菲律宾。
