2012的危险

加尔各答——许多美国人都会铭记2011年这一年,因为在这一年里许多曾经乐观的美国人都开始放弃了希望。肯尼迪总统曾经说过水涨船高这句话。但是现如今,在不断缩水的经济发展过程中,美国人不仅开始看到了那些拥有较高桅杆的人们可以爬得更高,而且还看到了那些较小的船只最终被浪花拍打地粉碎。

当经济确实在增长的短暂时期里,上百万的美国人相信他们可能会有一次公平的机会去实现“美国梦想”。但现如今,这种梦想也随之减弱。到了2011年,那些在2008年或者2009年失业的人们,已经花光了所有的积蓄。失业保险也已经到期。报纸的头条刊登着各种各样的新的就业信息,但这仍然满足不了那些即将步入劳动市场的年轻人的就业需要。这些消息对那些想要再次获得就业机会的50岁左右的人们来意义并不是很大。

事实上,那些认为自己只是短暂失业几个月的中年人现在已经意识到了他们实际上已经处于长期失业的状态。刚刚毕业的年轻大学生,身上还背负着上万美元的教育贷款,却根本找不到工作。那些无家可归的人只好搬到朋友或者亲戚家一起住。在房地产业繁荣时期购买的房子有的仍然在市场上等待出售,而有的已经亏本卖出。超过700万的美国家庭已经失去了自己的房子。
