当“维基解密”网站在网上公布美国情报机构关于阿富汗战争的原始资料时,巴基斯坦读者以恶毒言词回击。这其中包括“亲保守主义吸血鬼。。。残忍的伊斯兰恐惧症。。。智库民族统一主义者。。。(印度)复仇主义分子。。。策划另一起分裂事件,以便他们在阿富汗继续他们的血宴。”而美国国防部长盖茨对泄露事件表示只是“羞愧”和“震惊”,这和巴方的反响形成鲜明的对比。

人们对泄露事件反应之所以如此强烈,原因是一旦真相的暴露,美国领导的反“吉哈德主义”(Jihadism)就突然陷入困境。事实上很显然,对阿富汗的入侵是美国的一次重大的误判,他们原本以为可以成功占领阿富汗。
