昔日的峰会幽灵

普林斯顿——不少决策者认为世界正面临的戏剧性金融危机比两次世界大战间的大萧条更加严重。2008年前,专家们都说由于二战后合作机制可观的广度和深度,新一轮的大萧条根本不可能发生。

G-20峰会也因此承载了巨大的期望,希望国际主义能够再次战胜经济过剩的现实。但令人遗憾的是,人们的希望如此重大本身也注定了失望的结局。

G-20会址的象征意义并不幸运,因为它让人回想起大萧条期间管理世界经济的那次重大的失败企图。1933年的世界经济会议也在伦敦召开,会址选在地质博物馆,当时参与的国家达到66个之多。2009年峰会的与会者或许不会参观地质博物馆,但他们却不得不面对昔日峰会的幽灵,因为现在的领导人可以从1933年那次失败中汲取重要的教训。
