Il clan del terrore delle banche britanniche

WASHINGTON – Il diavolo si nasconde nei dettagli. Ed il peggior diavolo della nostra era economica si annida nei dettagli di come i funzionari considerano il capitale (fondi di investimento a capitale proprio) delle nostre più grandi banche. I funzionari pubblici si sono identificati, forse troppo, nella visione mondiale alterata ed egoistica degli esecutivi delle banche globali. Il risultato è che esiste un pericolo imminente per tutti noi.

In questo mondo surreale, il Regno Unito esercita un’influenza sproporzionata da un lato perché Londra continua ad essere uno dei principali centri finanziari, dall’altro ma, dall’altro lato, anche perché le più grandi banche americane ed europee si sono rivelate estremamente efficaci nel contrapporre i regolamentatori americani a quelli britannici. Gli opinion leader di tutto il mondo guardano ora all’approccio intelligente e modulato dei britannici rispetto alla gestione della politica finanziaria. Purtroppo, guardano invano.

Per capire a fondo il problema è necessario immergersi nei dettagli del recente “capital shortfall exercise” condotto dalla Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA) con otto delle principali banche britanniche. So bene che il lavoro della PRA non è una lettura facile per chi non è del settore, ma chiunque trascorra un po’ di tempo a leggere i documenti non potrà far altro che iniziare a ridere per poi piangere.
