当前的形势是这样的:在中东和北非地区,伊斯兰政党正不断崛起。逊尼/什叶派组织也冲在前面。源自于宗教异化现象的恐怖主义不仅破坏那些冲突多发地区的政治局势,还影响到尼日利亚、俄罗斯,哈萨克斯坦,菲律宾以及世界其他地方。在全球当前发生的冲突中,有超过一半都是以宗教为主导。

大多数宗教信仰都包含有恐怖主义派别,而且这些派别都有能力在原本安定的社区中制造事端。虽然这些极端主义大部分无疑都来自于伊斯兰教的异化;但这种异化也经常会转而针对穆斯林。在欧洲的某些地区,反伊斯兰主义已经开始和反犹太主义相互交锋,并拥有潜在而危险的政治号召力。
