À la fin des années 1990, les habitants de Moscou rencontraient fréquemment des panneaux publicitaires étranges - et surtout incompréhensibles. Le premier de ces panneaux publicitaires montrait le visage d'une jeune femme, mais pas de savonnette ni aucun flacon de parfum. Aucune marque non plus. Une courte accroche annonçait simplement: " Je vous aime ". Qui aimait cette femme et pourquoi voulait-il que tout le monde connaisse sa passion ? Selon la rumeur, un des hommes les plus riches de Russie voulait impressionner sa petite amie.

Puis vint le panneau publicitaire montrant le visage d'un homme baigné de pièces de monnaie étrangères qui lui tombaient dessus. L'accroche disait : " Roma prend soin de la Famille, la Famille prend soin de Roma. Félicitations ! Roma s'est trouvé un endroit classieux ".

Aucune explication publique ne fut jamais publiée au sujet de ce message non plus, et la rumeur prit le pas : " Roma " était Roman Abramovich (cela se passait bien avant que le magnat n'achète l'équipe de football de Chelsea, devenant une célébrité mondiale), et il avait des liens étroits avec les cercles proches du Président Boris Ieltsine, connu sous le nom de la " Famille ". Même ceux qui prétendaient connaître Roma n'étaient pas certains de savoir qui avait commandé le panneau. On s'accordait simplement à dire que ce qui est censé être un espace public - les rues de Moscou - avait été investi par un message personnel vaguement menaçant.
