纽约—国际足球联合会，也就是国际足联，为卡塔尔世界杯提出一个愚蠢的口号：“足球团结世界。” 一段官方宣传视频中，阿根廷的梅西和巴西的内马尔分别用西班牙语和葡萄牙语念出了这句话。真的吗？足球真的团结了世界吗？

当然没有。它甚至没有团结国家。回到巴西，球队的黄绿色被最近下台的总统博尔索纳罗（内马尔支持他）的支持者采用，这激怒了总统卢拉（巴西队教练蒂特和染了一头金发的前锋里查利森支持他）的支持者。

体育赛事团结世界各国人民的思想由来已久，可以追溯到 1896 年顾拜旦男爵发明现代奥林匹克运动会。顾拜旦及其后的无数体育官员认为，体育应该超越政治、国际紧张局势和任何其他不和。国际足联也赞同一个没有政治，冲突仅限于竞技场的世界的幻想。

Spoilsport! Money as social and political power was invented in the West. Qatar has simply turned the tables and given the Arab countries a chance to shine. Collateral issues with corruption and human rights? Of course, but nothing like those of western imperialism.

It is not only football but every sports has a potential to unite the world. In this aspect football is the most followed sports in the world and thereby it has by far the most effective potential to unite the world. However, this sentence in itself is not true and neither mutually exclusive. By just having it in Qatar niether unites the world and on the face of it, it would not appear convincing if Qatar has human rights problem and your argument would correct under this context.

Well I donot represent FIFA but if I assume and I assume that the assumption is correct, FIFA is run by people who have played professional football or professional sports at some level and are not just managers who have spent their life eating fatty foods watching sporting events happening on tv screens. The catch in the argument is that in every country, or rather most of the countries across the globe, if any game is played in sports fields or streets, it is football. And thereby it is football that inculcate sports man spirit in whom so ever who have played football. And it is the sports man or sports woman spirit that unites the world. Just rooting for Ronaldo based on his football game doesnt. Yes Ronaldo and his game can unite the world if the spectators understand how much hard work is put in to play the game he plays. Playing sports at some recognition level requires a lot of hard work, technique and physical and mental fitness. And after putting all your hard work and energies, if the other team or a player would play better, a true sports man would never translate it into envy but the sportsman spirit would allow the player to understand the possibility of losing based on competitors better skills or hardwork. Thereby sports man or sports woman spirit provides outcomes in cultural practices that strive for better and acceptance of other's victory based not on biasness but based on better capabilities. And in a fair game the capabilities represent better technique, better level of hard work and preparation. The second outcome that arise out of understanding the level of competition is to strive for better and then going through all the tough regiments to understand the real worth of the victory by the competitor. On the other side, the victorious would be more humble towards victories that are not an outcome of exploitation but an outcome of again all the hard work including better skill set and superior physical exertion.

The nations who play sports don't believe in conspiracies that divides the world based on opinions and less on actions. If Qatar ever wants to win a soccer world cup or for that matter if any middle eastern soccer team ever tries to plausibly win a soccer world cup, then the society shall need to invest in professional sports with more and more among the population participating in it. The team would be formed of 11 team members but thousands or millions who have played soccer would have values of sportsman or sports woman spirit inculcated into them. They would know the worth of human spirit and they would learn to respect it and thereby probability to abide by human rights in such societies increase under the safe assumption of citrus peribus.

Yes FIFA is right that football unites the world when the spectators watch the game of professionals of their countries and understand that other teams are performing better based not always on chance but because they have a better team with better players. That is then swiftly translated into understanding if the country represented by the other team is economically and technologically more prosperous. It gives nations a perspective to compete instead of complaining of conspiracies.
