投资美满的结局

伦敦——针对实体经济的公共及私人投资从2008年金融危机后就备受打击。经济困难时期,削减只能收到长期效益的投资、从而节省下资金和资源来解决短期问题看似合情合理。但事实上,削减对于未来的投资——无论涉及人、地球、政治机构还是企业——都是非常不理性的行为。

只有投资于有远见的想法、开创性的思维、研究和创新,才能确保未来更自由、更和平、更繁荣,进而超越过去。

举例来讲,早期儿童教育、预防医学、图书馆、基础设施和基础科学研究都需要资金支持——而且研究显示这些钱花得很值。但当决策者需要削减开支时,往往会最先牺牲对这些公共产品的投资,因为选民在短期内不会有所察觉。痛苦大多被推迟了,而这恰恰表明这样的削减在政治上颇具吸引力。
