GMF的《跨大西洋趋势》(Transatlantic Trends )调查的最重要的发现是,当人们获得最基本的事实时,对移民的担忧就会迅速减少。比如,在被问及美国移民是否过多时,38%的美国人表示同意。但如果在问问题之前告诉受调查者实际上有多少外国人生活在美国,他们的观点就会发生重大改变:只有21%表示移民太多了。
