马萨诸塞州参议院选举的失利,不但令美国民主党失去了通过医疗改革法案与其他法案所需的“六十票”,也至少改变了美国政治在短期内的面貌。但对于美国选民以及美国经济而言,这次选举又透露出何种信息呢?

这次选举并不像某些专家所言,是美国政治右转的风向标;相反,它所传递出的信号,正如十七年前选民向比尔·克林顿总统发出的信息一样:“蠢货,是经济 ! ”“工作,工作,工作。”的确在美国的另一端,在与马萨诸塞州遥遥相望的俄勒冈州,选民便已通过了一份支持增加税收的公投议案。
