中国的市场化民族主义

上月中国国内爆发了群情激愤的反日抗议,原因颇多。从中国人的角度来看,日本政府迟迟不愿为二战时候它在中国所犯下的罪行道歉,当然应该谴责。但是中国媒体却通过刊登煽动群众怒火的反日本的文章,扮演了一个不光彩的角色。

民族主义是中国媒体近年来一个颇为突出的特点。对美国、日本和台湾进行尖锐批评的报道出现频率越来越高,在版面上的位置也越来越突出。很多人都看到了政府在此次事件背后的操纵之手,把讨论重点放在了官方影响的风险性上,而忽略了市场压力如何将中国媒体推往这个方向。

1978年中国开放经济之前,所有的报纸和杂志是“党报”和“党的杂志”。媒体老板是由政府指定和控制的。记者和编辑事实上是政府官员。
