作为解放者的铁娘子

哈尔科夫,乌克兰—监狱永远是令人哀伤的地方。但对于获知撒切尔的死讯,这里或许正合适,因为这个消息让我想起了我青年时代的被囚禁的社会,撒切尔为解放它做了很多努力。

对于我们这些生长于苏联及其东欧卫星国的人来说,撒切尔永远是巾帼英雄。她不但拥护英国和西方的自由事业——特别是经济自由;也是把我们从古拉格社会解放出来的关键催化剂——她称戈尔巴乔夫是“可以和他谈谈”的人(当时,几乎所有民主领导人都对他的改革和开放政策持深深的怀疑态度)。

事实上,对所有身处前共产主义世界、致力于在集权主义的废墟上建立自由社会的人来说,“铁娘子”是不朽的旗帜。她的勇气和坚持——“绝不掉头”——给我们树立了活生生的榜样,向我们展示了一种面对政治危险从容不迫的领导力。毫无疑问,她面对公正事业的坚守原则和对斗争再斗争的坚定信念让我启发良多。
