纽约——五十年前,美国总统约翰·F·肯尼迪完成了看似不可能完成的任务。他让美苏两个超级核大国在冷战高潮期实现了向和平的过渡。肯尼迪的领导艺术在现代史上极其伟大,他留给我们的经验教训在当前仍有着直接的意义。

我在新著《推动世界》中对这个不平凡的故事进行了描述。当时很多人认为两个超级大国间的战争不可避免。1962年10月的古巴导弹危机让全球笼罩着悲观和恐惧,人们因此认定美苏之间的矛盾不可调和。

肯尼迪更有眼光。他了解危险的紧张局势大多来自两国的强硬派,他们的所作所为就好像和平是不可能的。一方的举动会激起对方的强烈反应,并因此导致双方阵营极端势力的不信任越来越根深蒂固。
