伦敦—每一次经济崩溃都会带来债务豁免需求。用来偿还贷款的收入切断了,用来作为抵押品的资产价值崩盘了。债权人要求拿回本息,这个要求合法而不合理;债务人大声嚷嚷着要求豁免。

以“罢免债务”(Strike Debt)为例。罢免债务是“占领”(Occupy)运动的变体,它号召“全国债务抵制者联合起来,为经济正义和民主自由而斗争。”其网站指出,“在工资停滞、系统性失业和公共服务削减的情况下,”人们被迫背上债务才能获得最基本的生活必需品,这导致他们“将未来拱手让给银行”。

罢免债务运动之一的“滚动禧年”(Rolling Jubilee)采取众筹的方式筹集资金买断和注销债务,其自称这是“集体拒绝式债务抵制”。该组织的突飞猛进之势令人瞩目,目前已筹集700,000多美元,注销了价值近1,860万美元的债务。
