Die Neudefinition unternehmerischer Kompetenz

DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA, USA – Einer der interessantesten Aspekte meiner Arbeit als Dekan einer Wirtschaftshochschule ist die Möglichkeit, mit Führungskräften aus allen Unternehmensbereichen offene Gespräche zu führen. Seit ein paar Jahren höre ich immer wieder dieselbe Klage: Unternehmensleiter spüren eine Art von öffentlicher Missachtung, die sonst Politikern vorbehalten war.

Das Problem ist Vertrauen – oder vielmehr mangelndes Vertrauen. Laut dem Edelman-Vertrauensbarometer von 2014 glaubt weniger als ein Fünftel der Öffentlichkeit, Führungskräfte aus Wirtschaft und Politik würden, wenn sie vor einem schwierigen Problem stehen, die Wahrheit sagen.

Diese öffentliche Einschätzung beeinflusst die Unternehmenskultur weltweit. Eine Umfrage des CFO-Magazins der Duke University zum weltweiten unternehmerischen Ausblick ergab, dass fast 60% der Finanzchefs in den Vereinigten Staaten glauben, das unternehmerische Umfeld sei durch mangelndes Vertrauen der Öffentlichkeit beschädigt. In anderen Teilen der Welt sind diese Prozentwerte sogar noch höher.
