Agree with Mr. Skidelsky Inequality could be Killing Capitalism. But, when did we have equality in the history of human being? What other alternatives we have for the economic system other than Capitalism? Communism and Socialism are tested and they have spectacularly failed. Only option we have is to learn from the mistakes and correct the Capitalist sytem to work for everyone's benefit.
Interesting article. Africa has huge potential to grow economically and reduce poverty on its own without outside help. It has natural resources, which other fast growing countries like China and India lack. Also, Africa can feed the world with its massive arable land and replace US in food production. It is very crucial with growing population around the world and inevitable food shortages. China and India will soon start importing food in massive quantities.
Stable governments, education, investments in healthcare ,law and order are key to Africa's growth.
There is a risk of another four years of lame duck presidency. I think Romney was in a better position to move legislation with republicans holding the congress. Barack Obama is no doubt a decent person, but his rhetoric and excellent speaking skills are matched by his leadership skills. Till he shows his ability to make deals with republicans and make things happen, he can't deliver on any of the promises.
