Peter Sutherland, EU Commissioner, Irish Attorney General, first head of the World Trade Organization, and a long-time contributor to Project Syndicate, has died. Few people believed in the European project more deeply; fewer still fought as hard to improve conditions for refugees; and perhaps no one more fully embodied the vision of globalization as a positive force for humanity.
