Cosa è la Resilienza?

CANBERRA – La “resilienza”, come l’amore, è difficile da definire. Eppure tutti - dal Segretario delle Nazioni Unite Ban Ki-moon alle agenzie governative, ai consigli amministrativi delle aziende, e ai gruppi delle comunità - parlano di come costruirla o mantenerla. E allora, la resilienza è un concetto utile o solo una parola di una moda passeggera?

Per rispondere a questa domanda, bisogna cominciare ponendone un’altra: Quanto pensate si possa cambiare senza diventare una persona diversa? Quanto può cambiare un ecosistema, una città, o un’attività economica prima di apparire e funzionare come un diverso tipo di ecosistema, di città, o di attività economica?

Questi sono tutti sistemi auto-organizzati. Il corpo, per esempio, mantiene una temperatura costante di circa 37 gradi. Se la temperatura corporea si alza, si inizia a sudare per raffreddarsi, se la temperatura scende, i muscoli vibrano (rabbrividiscono) per riscaldarsi. Il vostro corpo si basa su reazioni retroattive per mantenere le stesse modalità di funzionamento.
