As the article describes in great detail, resilience is a natural concept, it describes how a natural system is capable of sustaining balance and homeostasis against changing internal and external stimulus, within changing external and internal conditions before breaking down.
We will never understand, let alone becoming capable of changing the problems within modern human society until we do not view humanity as integral part of the vast natural system around us.
For a long time now we presume we have become detached from this natural environment, we are independent and can do whatever we want.
This is how humanity started building a socio-economic system that has no natural foundations, but is fully artificial.
While the whole of nature is integral, and all of its processes combine to sustain the general balance and homeostasis based on planning and action that is resource dependent, humanity built a system that is fragmented, isolating its own parts, which parts are working, competing against each other.
This human system is fully based on unnatural, excessive demand in order to fulfill needs, desires that are artificial, without any natural basis, simply in order to gain, and accumulate profit, which excessive profit accumulation has also no natural basis.
The present global crisis is the expression going beyond resilience.
The main reason is exhausting the human resources, potential as a result of the excessive, unnatural lifestyle and purpose, highlighted by unbearable debt burden, social inequality, growing unemployment, breakdown of family and other basic structures of human society.
The present pattern we still try to stubbornly push on with is exactly the same as the pattern of cancer in living bodies, leading to destruction.
There is no other solution but to re-adapt to the natural system in order to make resilience, self-adjustment possible, building a socio-economic system based on natural desires and demand within available resources.
And the first step in that direction is changing the inherent, self-centered, greedy human nature through a global, integral education program.
The most important element of this program is using positive motivation, showing a potential, much safer, sustainable and overall better quality of life and future by adaptation to the natural system, instead of today's near catastrophic state.

A major problem is that memes are resistant to the adaptation that resiliency requires resulting in social structures that are slow to evolve. An example of this is the church, the state, the judiciary etc. Social evolution often lags far behind scientific and technological evolution resulting in less resiliency within the system.
