最近一些美国领导人和北约代表所发表的声明给人这样的印象:和现实脱节,行为开始变得不理智的不仅是伊斯兰和其他激进分子,文明世界的政治人物们也同样如此。世界正变得越来越难以预测和管理,对于这一点,那些习惯于大权在握的人体会更深。

过去十年所犯下的错误会让我们付出高昂的代价。有三个国家—巴基斯坦、印度和北朝鲜—已经被允许开发核武器。这说明在防止核扩散的问题上已经没有政治和道德的争议,有的只是空袭和贿赂。

我们非但没有进行文明间的对话并支持中东的现代主义力量,反而纵容一种倒行逆施的行为。入侵伊拉克摧毁了一个千夫所指的暴政,但却激起了一股针对西方的仇恨浪潮,它甚至波及到蔑视萨达姆的人中间。这一行动还造成了西方自身的分化。
