السياسة الخارجية والحملة الانتخابية الرئاسية في أميركا

نيويورك ــ من المستحيل أن نعرف من قد يختار الناخبون الأميركيون رئيساً لهم في العام المقبل. ولكن من المؤكد أن الاختيار سوف يخلف عواقب عميقة على العالم بأسره، للأفضل أو الأسوأ.

الأمر الأكثر أهمية على الإطلاق هو أن هذا يعكس واقع استمرار القوة الأميركية. وهو يعكس أيضاً شبه اليقين بأن الرئيس المقبل سوف يرث هذا العالم الذي يعج بقدر كبير من الاضطرابات. ومن المؤكد أن ما سيختار ذلك الرئيس المنتظر القيام به، وكيف يختار القيام به، أمر بالغ الأهمية للناس في كل مكان.

ولكن من الصعب مع هذا أن نعرف ما الدور الذي قد تلعبه السياسة الخارجية في تحديد الشخص التالي الذي سيحتل المكتب البيضاوي. لا تزال سبعة عشر شهراً تفصل بيننا وبين انتخابات 2016. وقد تشهد الفترة بين الآن وذلك الحين تطورات كثيرة.
