太平洋稳定的基石

华盛顿——本月,从驻扎在夏威夷的美国陆军第25步兵师开始,我完成了一次历时两周、途经六站的太平洋视察之旅。从第25步兵师开启这次视察之旅再恰当不过,因为这提醒人们美国陆军是构建亚太安全的基石。

第25步兵师早年曾赢得过“热带闪电”的称号,这支部队将在今年秋天迎来成立75周年纪念日。驻扎在那里的男兵和女兵——而且事实上还包括驻扎在亚太地区的所有美军士兵——在上个世纪绝大部分时间内一直在为确保地区稳定付出努力。自从美国总统巴拉克·奥巴马实行亚太再平衡战略后,他们承担了更多的使命。

今天,美军在亚太地区以外面临的任务依然十分繁重。身处美国领导的反抗所谓伊斯兰国联盟运动和支持阿富汗民众最前沿的都是美军官兵。
