ООН – 70 лет

НЬЮ-ЙОРК – Организация Объединенных Наций будет отмечать 70-летний юбилей, когда в сентябре мировые лидеры соберутся в её штаб-квартире в Нью-Йорке. Будет много пафоса, но он неадекватно отразит ценность ООН – ведь это не только самое важное политическое изобретение XX столетия, но и самая выгодная организация на планете. Для того чтобы ООН продолжала выполнять свою уникальную и жизненно важную глобальную роль в XXI веке, её необходимо модернизировать по трем ключевым направлениям.

К счастью, есть множество стимулов, чтобы мировые лидеры сделали всё необходимое. ООН одержала в последнее время два важных триумфа, причем готовятся ещё два до конца года.

Первый триумф – ядерное соглашение с Ираном. Его иногда неправильно интерпретируют как соглашение между Ираном и США, но на самом деле это договор между Ираном и ООН, которую представляли пять постоянных членов Совета безопасности (Китай, Франция, Россия, Великобритания и США) плюс Германия. Иранский дипломат, объясняя, почему его страна будет скрупулезно соблюдать соглашение, ярко подчеркнул именно этот факт: «Вы действительно думаете, что Иран посмеет обмануть пять постоянных членов Совета безопасности ООН, которые способны вершить судьбу нашей страны?»
