Etika velkých potravinářských společností

PRINCETON – Mezinárodní charitativní organizace Oxfam zahájila v únoru kampaň s názvem „Behind the Brands“. Cílem je vyhodnotit deset největších světových producentů potravin a nápojů co do průhlednosti výroby jejich zboží a oznámkovat jejich bilanci v citlivých otázkách, jako jsou chování k malým zemědělcům, trvale udržitelné hospodaření s vodou a půdou, klimatické změny a vykořisťování žen.

Spotřebitelé mají etickou zodpovědnost vědět, jakým způsobem se jejich potraviny vyrábějí, a velké potravinářské značky mají odpovídající zodpovědnost být otevřenější v otázce svých dodavatelů, aby si zákazníci mohli informovaně vybrat, co budou jíst. Největší potravinářské společnosti v mnoha případech samy nevědí, jak si v této oblasti vedou, což prozrazuje jejich hluboký nedostatek etické zodpovědnosti.

Nejlepších výsledků v oblasti transparentnosti dosáhla firma Nestlé, která poskytuje informace přinejmenším o části zdrojů svých komodit a kontrolních systémů. I ona však dosáhla pouze známky „uspokojivý“. Nejhůře se umístila společnost General Mills.
