Der Sonnenblumen-Revolutionär

LONDON – Die entsetzliche Nachricht von der Festnahme und Inhaftierung Ai Weiweis, des vielleicht bekanntesten chinesischen Künstlers der Gegenwart, − seine Familie und seine Freunde haben ihn seitdem weder gesehen, noch von ihm gehört − lässt mich erneut über Ais 100 Millionen handbemalte Sonnenblumenkerne aus Porzellan nachdenken, die zurzeit in der Londoner Tate Modern ausgestellt werden.

Das chinesische Volk, so scheint es Ais Installation zu implizieren, ist wie die Millionen von Samen, die in der riesigen Eingangshalle der Tate Modern ausgestreut worden sind. Es kümmert niemanden, ob sie Erniedrigungen ausgesetzt sind oder auf ihnen herum getrampelt wird (wie es zu Beginn der Ausstellung möglich war). Leider ist Ai zu einem der Samen geworden, seine Freiheit wird mit den Füßen eines unmenschlichen Staates getreten.

Die staatlich kontrollierte englischsprachige Tageszeitung Global Times prangerte Ai als „Außenseiter“ an und Außenseiter werden in China nicht toleriert. Die einzige Möglichkeit, wie ein Individuum in China überleben kann, ist, in der grauen, anonymen Masse der Sonnenblumenkerne aufzugehen.
