ВАШИНГТОН – Гонка была жесткой, но президент США Барак Обама вновь выиграл выборы. Теперь стоит вопрос, как перед США, так и перед всем миром, что он будет делать в этот новый четырехлетний срок?

Выиграть выборы в условиях неокрепшей экономики и с уровнем безработицы, близким к 8%, было нелегко. Многие лидеры – сразу вспоминаются Николя Саркози, Гордон Браун и Хосе Луис Родригес Сапатеро – за последние годы были сметены волной экономического недовольства. И хотя финансовый кризис разразился еще во времена Джорджа Буша, после восьми лет правления республиканцев, Обаме пришлось нести бремя медленного восстановления экономики.

Обама победил не только за счет своей невероятной стойкости, но и благодаря тому, что достаточное число избирателей среднего класса, недовольные темпом экономического развития, почувствовали, что президентство Обамы принесет больше пользы, чем меры, предлагаемые его оппонентом от республиканцев, Миттом Ромни, которые были восприняты как рассчитанные на богатые слои населения. Кроме того текущие демографические преобразования в Америке усложнили положение кандидатов, которые не смогли донести свои речи до латиноамериканцев и других общин меньшинств – в чем Ромни в особенности не преуспел – чтобы повести за собой страну.
