平等权之今昔谈

伦敦 - 继数周的金融和经济动荡之后,公众讨论终于转到了全球金融体系崩溃的可怕的并潜在的对于人类影响的方面上来。和1930年代经济大萧条时期的比较和对比,不可避免地成了讨论的中心话题-而且这是对的。现在的世界能够而且必须从20世纪的最低点学到很多。

总之,我们必须在经济危机时进行社会以及经济方面的干预,且这样做已被证明是必需的。经济的衰退和大萧条可能导致对社会最脆弱的群体的排斥;在最坏的情况下,导致对他们的迫害。这就是为什么联合国在1948年通过了人权宣言,也是为什么我们比以往任何时候都更迫切需要建立人人平等的普世价值观。

各国现在必须采取行动,以确保每个人-不论其财富、种族、性别或宗教的不同-拥有相同的权利,且这些权利在法律颁布的时候已包含其中。
