伦敦——我刚刚看完两篇颂扬瓦茨拉夫·哈维尔——转型为持异议者,再转型为和平革命家,再转型为总统的刚刚去世的剧作家——的文章,就传来两则凸显哈维尔杰出生涯的消息:沉溺美色和核武器的朝鲜最高领导人金正日死了;中国广东省乌坎村爆发了村民反对土地征用的示威。

如果哈维尔对于他给这个世界带来的积极影响的持续性有一丝一毫的怀疑,那么我衷心希望他在逝世前看到了关于乌坎的报道。在这个只有6000名村民的渔村里,“无权者的权力”——哈维尔所大力宣扬的反对极权统治的利器——正在发出新的光芒,那里的村民显示出了中国自1989年春天安门广场示威以来从未体现过的尊严与纪律。

从某种程度上讲,金正日是反哈维尔的,他不仅在道德上肆意妄为,也不具备一般独裁者对如何治国的关心。金正日之死让我想起了毛泽东,在当时的中国,这个自封为神的人物的陨落引发了全体中国人的歇斯底里——不管是真是假。
