按照世界卫生组织的研究成果,抑郁症位列世界第4大健康问题,标准是这种疾病能使患者在多少年内失去健康状态。截止2020年,抑郁症很有可能仅次于心脏疾病而位列第二。但治疗或预防抑郁症的努力却远远不够。

这项由Saba Moussavi主持的研究上个月在《柳叶刀》杂志上发表,它揭示了抑郁症对患者身体健康的影响甚至超过了心绞痛、糖尿病、关节炎和哮喘等主要慢性病。但在同一期《柳叶刀》杂志里,新南威尔士大学的研究员Gavin Andrews和Nickolai Titov报告患有抑郁症的澳大利亚人与患有关节炎或哮喘的人相比得到较好护理的可能性要小得多。这种状况与其它发达国家报告的情况是一致的。

抑郁症的治疗虽说不是百治百愈,但多数情况下也可以说非常有效。如果不接受治疗,抑郁症患者就无法快乐、满足的生活。但即使是从狭义的成本-收益率来看,追加治疗抑郁症的投资也很有意义。
