伊拉克和阿富汗事务的终结

发自纽约——近十年以来,美国的外交政策一直都处在伊拉克和阿富汗这两场战争的支配之下。在2011年到来之际,依然各有5万和10万名美军士兵驻守在伊拉克和阿富汗两地——这一切似乎永无宁日,但它确实即将走向终结。

作为美国历史上消耗人力物力仅次于越战的“选择之战”,伊拉克战争已不再会被注入大量军事/经济资源或是获取大范围的国内政治关注。所有美军部队都应当于2011年末撤离伊拉克。

即便会有数千名士兵留守,但他们的数量已经非常少,所扮演的角色也只限于提供顾问意见,训练伊拉克军警以及执行反恐任务。在历时八年,4300名美国人丧命并耗费了1万亿美元之后,不论情况是好是坏,都应该是由伊拉克人决定自己国家未来的时候了。
