今年春天是镇压浪潮的三周年纪念。在此镇压浪潮中,卡斯特罗政权逮捕了古巴75名主要的持不同政见者并宣判了他们的长期徒刑。此后不久,我和许多朋友成立了“古巴民主国际委员会”。

那些人士找到了自己的社会良心,克服了恐惧并挺身而出反抗共产主义专政。他们的勇敢精神在我的记忆中仍然栩栩如生。它让我想起了1989年秋天布拉格温塞拉斯广场上回荡的键音――后来这种声音响彻当时捷克斯洛伐克的其它地方。

这就是三年前我们的委员会在布拉格召开会议呼吁古巴实行民主政治期间我大声呼吁的原因。我想吸引国际社会关注古巴的人权状况,支持该国的反对派,鼓励所有亲民主的力量。欧盟随后对卡斯特罗政权实施了外交制裁,虽然这种制裁更多的是象征意味。
