La crise du consumérisme

Florence – Inévitablement une crise économique majeure est aussi un repère structural, car une fois passée il n'y a pas de simple retour à la situation antérieure - quelque chose est changé de manière permanente. Ainsi que nous l'avons appris en 2009, les attentes et les exigences prennent alors une nouvelle forme.

La crise actuelle ne constitue pas un simple retour de flamme de la mondialisation. La mondialisation financière a dérapé parce qu'elle reposait sur modèle économique qui n'est plus viable. Durant les 25 dernières années, mais plus spécialement au cours des cinq dernières années précédant la crise, le monde paraissait tourner autour du consommateur américain.

Le consumérisme américain a fini par devenir un modèle de développement économique qui a fait tache d'huile. En quelques décennies, les centres des plus grandes villes du monde ont fini par se ressembler, avec des populations aux styles de vie analogues et des magasins affichant les mêmes marques et les mêmes types de produit. La consommation, ou plus précisément le consumérisme, s'était mondialisé.
