伦敦——今年是联合国生物多样性国际年,又要在日本召开生物多样性保护会议,显然我们面临日益严峻的环境挑战,采取行动已经迫在眉睫。

我们以及地球上所有其他生物的生命都是生物多样性的一部分,依赖生物多样性。简言之,生物多样性是生物网,包括所有栖息地所能找到的一切生物,从深海的鱼到热带雨林中的鸟以及在两者之间的所有生物。

植物和真菌多样性是生物多样性最基础的部分,所有其他生命都要依靠它们。植物吸收二氧化碳,释放氧气,为我们提供了呼吸所需的空气并有助于控制气候。它们提供了粮食、药材、燃料、住所、清洁水源和肥沃的土地。现在植物多样性供养我们,将来它能使我们适应、创新并最终活下来。
