阿拉伯世界的民主机遇

目前大约四亿穆斯林居住在包括土耳其、印度尼西亚、孟加拉、塞内加尔、马里和阿尔巴尼亚等非阿拉伯穆斯林国家。这些国家都已经相对自由地选举出了他们的最高政治领导人。它们也许并非完全的民主政体,但是,他们举行过竞争式选举,已经满足了成为民主政体的一个必要条件。

但是,自从黎巴嫩三十年前由于内战和暴力活动而分裂、其形势因巴勒斯坦解放组织(PLO)、以色列、叙利亚、法国和美国的武力入侵而雪上加霜以来,没有一个穆斯林人居住在一个具备竞争选举制度的阿拉伯国家。这就是为什么全世界应当深刻考虑巴勒斯坦及其邻国当前面临的实现民主政体的机遇的重要性。
