大难临头思维

伦敦-美国前副总统戈尔对于这个月发生在缅甸的飓风作出一个大难临头的曲解并不令人感到惊讶,因为他曾说过:“去年,一场灾难性的风暴袭击了孟加拉国。前年,50多年来最强烈的飓风袭击了中国……我们看到科学家们早就预言过的地球持续变暖可能造成的结果正在一点一点地呈现出来。”

令人奇怪的地,戈尔并没有把2004年造成22.5万人死亡的亚洲海啸包含在内。不用明说大家都能听出来他认为这些自然灾害预示了世界末日的到来。

大难临头信念一直是基督教传统的一部分,它们表达了对于天堂降临人间,到那时坏人遭到惩罚而好人得到拯救的渴望。在传统的宗教形式中,这种信念在发生地震和太阳黑子这样的迹象和预兆时,通过援引《圣经》中的章节,把它们诠释为预示着一场大灾难和清洗的到来。因此,大难临头论往往出现在发生战争或者自然灾害危机的时候。
