Le secteur financier et le développement durable

NEW-YORK – Les marchés financiers ont deux fonctions cruciales : premièrement orienter l'épargne vers les investissements productifs et deuxièmement permettre aux individus et aux entreprises de gérer les risques (par leur diversification et des garanties financières). Le secteur financier joue donc un rôle essentiel pour le développement durable - qui offre des opportunités d'investissement sans précédent à l'échelle de la planète et constitue un défi lui aussi sans précédent en matière des gestion des risques.

Aussi faudrait-il que le secteur financier propose des solutions d'ensemble aux défis liés au financement de la croissance, à la lutte contre la pauvreté et à la protection de l'environnement lors de la réunion des  dirigeants de la planète en juillet à Addis Abeba à l'occasion de la Conférence sur le financement du développement.

Nous sommes entrés dans l'Année du développement durable. Lors de trois sommets mondiaux consécutifs (la conférence d'Addis Abeba, la rencontre de septembre à l'ONU pour adopter les objectifs du développement durable et la Conférence mondiale sur le climat qui se tiendra à Paris en décembre), 193 Etats tenteront de s'accorder pour que la croissance mondiale et la lutte contre la pauvreté se prolongent sans dégradation de l'environnement.
