从前途无量到误入歧途

发自马萨诸塞州剑桥市——人们往往很难理解,为何那些原本把经济处理得相当好的国家最终会把局面搞得一片混乱。这一切似乎跟在地下室跳楼自杀一样荒谬。

这其中两个最极端(却非唯一)的例子就是阿根廷和委内瑞拉。这两个国家得益于其昂贵的出口产品价格,却错过了走向繁荣的高速轨道而拐进了死胡同,最终还必须掉头原路返回到貌似进步的领域中去。

令人费解的是,这两个国家已经不是第一次在经济上走入歧途。人们说,只有理发师才需要从别人的脑袋上学习经验,但一些国家似乎无法从自己的经验中得到教训。这种自我毁灭的最深层原因或许无法定义。但它肯定可以描述出通向地狱之路是如何铺就的,无论其最初意图是什么。
