人民币的大期望

上海—国际货币基金组织(IMF)最近决定将人民币纳入决定其储备资产——特别提款权(SDR)价值的货币篮子中,这吸引了全世界的目光。但自1969年创设以来,SDR本身从未成为讨论的焦点,也鲜有交易。因此,这一决定真的很重要吗?

事实上,SDR在全球经济中的作用十分有限,因此IMF的决定几乎没有任何短期实质影响。但从长期看,这一决定所吸引的注意力能够刺激SDR得到更广泛的使用。更重要的是,至少在现在,这一决定证明了IMF对中国在人民币国际化方面取得的进步持肯定态度,同时也反应——并加强了——中国日益增加的经济实力。

自2001年中国加入世界贸易组织以来,其GDP从20万亿元人民币左右增长到60万亿元人民币。2009年中国成为世界最大的出口国。而据IMF数据,去年中国已超过美国成为世界第一大经济体(以购买力平价衡量)。代表所有188个成员国的IMF理事会承认人民币满足纳入SDR篮子的“所有现有条件”,这是沿着这一进步之路所迈出的又一步。
