纽约——世界经济正在遭受能源价格飙升的猛烈袭击。在中东和其他地方的若干能源出口国赚取巨额利润的同时,世界其他国家在油价达到每桶110美元、而煤价翻番之际都深受其害。

没有丰富低价的能源,全球经济的所有领域都在面临危险。举例来讲,食品价格与油价一起飞涨,其中部分原因是生产成本增加,但同时也是因为美国和其他国家的农田都在从生产粮食向生产生物能源转化。

油价问题根本不存在快速解决方案。高价格反应了供给和需求的基本条件。世界经济——特别是中国、印度和亚洲其他地区——一直在快速增长,因此导致全球能源需求剧增,尤其是在电力和运输领域。而石油、天然气和煤炭的全球供应量无法轻易跟上经济发展的脚步,就连新能源储量的发现也改变不了这种状况。而且在很多地方,随着原有油田的枯竭,石油供应量正在迅速下降。
