忠诚的新前沿

伦敦—眼下,国家不好做,公民更难做。民族国家——经典用提供安全和基本福利换取公民忠诚的例子——岌岌可危,不管在国内还是作为国际事务的基本单元都是如此。

新形式的忠诚和团结正在挑战国家的传统角色。其中一些是地理性的。光是在欧洲,就至少有40个潜在的苏格兰寻求以某种方式从现在所处的国家独立。其他类型的忠诚基于其他的相似身份——不仅仅是宗教和种族,也包括共同的商业、政治或其他利益。如今,支持非政府组织的人比政党党员多得多。
