奥运花招

纽约-中国为举办今夏的奥运会进行了长期而艰苦的游说,当国际奥委会决定由中国举办这届奥运会的时候,成千上万的中国人到街头舞蹈欢庆。这是中国人向世界展示他们和他们的祖国取得的成就的机会。

我不知道中文是否有和“小心你希望的东西”相应的说法,但是,如果有,这个说法在这里当然适用。虽然中国受到了大量的国际关注,但是这样的关注不是它希望的那种。相反,中国发现从其西藏政策、人权、产品安全到货币水平、对苏丹以及全球气候变化的政策的所有事情都遭到严格的国际审视。本应该是一个庆祝的时刻却变成了一个受批评的时刻。

事实上,可能世界上一些著名的领导人,包括英国首相戈登·布朗,德国总理安格拉·默克尔以及联合国秘书长潘基文,将不会出席奥运会开幕式。一些知名的美国政治家对抵制奥运表示支持。还有一些国家的元首,包括法国总统萨尔科其,正在考虑不参加。
