奥巴马的全球道德挑战

普林斯顿——巴拉克·奥巴马当选总统的惊人故事已经在很大程度上挽回了美国全球形象所受到的损失。在一个除自己父亲的姓氏之外没有任何过人之处的总统下台以后,我们现在终于有了一位新的总统,他依靠自己智慧和远见克服了来自非洲穆斯林家庭这道难以逾越的障碍。在经历过前两次大选之后,谁还能相信美国公众能够选择这样一位候选人?

奥巴马取得的成功无形中加大了人们在其首届总统任期中的赌注。他竞选的主题是自己不同于其它政客,自己能带来真正的变革。这样的提法吸引了大批热情的群众,这种方法与聪明地网络应用相结合,为他赢得了前所未有的四百万赞助者,并致使数量庞大的非洲裔美国人和年轻人参与注册投票。

这是一次一生难得的机遇,可以突破几十年来困扰美国政治的玩世不恭的态度。可如果奥巴马没能实现他变化的诺言,那么至少要等到几十年后,选民才有可能再次相信声称自己与一般政客不同的竞选者。
