奥巴马将是印度独立以来第6位来访的美国总统。奥巴马的访问是在美国和印度都处于艰难时刻这一大背景下进行的。他的一些最亲密的顾问已经辞职,这使美国在处理国家安全和经济方面留下了一些令人尴尬的职位空缺。而经济将是奥巴马与印度政府会晤时的核心问题。
