塞浦路斯的抉择

近期,塞浦路斯又成为世界媒体关注的焦点,原因是两大对立族群,希腊人和土耳其人团体之间为了解决国家地位问题,开始了艰难地谈判。虽然新的一轮谈判已经开始,国际社会已经有点懒得插手了。该国的争端起源于1974年,虽然联合国秘书长和特使的一直努力斡旋,加上希腊和土耳其两国政府的积极参与,但矛盾一直没有得到化解。

2004年,由欧盟,美国和一些国际组织也加入进来,希望能够达成一劳永逸的决定。当时在联合国秘书长科菲·安南领导下,出台了一个解决方案,土耳其政府顶住国内外巨大的政治压力,表示支持该项方案。土耳其政府还说服塞浦路斯境内的土耳其族裔支持安南的计划,目的是实现国家的统一。
